7th Annual Ride to the GP A Tribute to Barry SheeneThursday, October 15, 2009 The Australian Grand Prix Corporation in consultation with the Sheene family devised the concept of honouring Barry with a Tribute Ride from Bairnsdale to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The ride has become known as the Ride to the GP – A Tribute to Barry Sheene. The first Ride was conducted in 2003 in conjunction with the East Gippsland Shire Council with approximately 500 participants, and it has now become an annual respected tradition to the man who was – and always will be a legend, Barry Sheene. The Tribute starts on Wednesday night with the annual fundraising dinner to honour Barry Sheene. About 600 riders will than depart Bairnsdale on the Thursday before the MotoGP weekend travelling through Morwell for lunch and then on to Phillip Island for a lap of the Grand Prix circuit.
